"Hi! My name is Alison and I moved to Tahoe Last August. Before moving here I attended a little university in Wisconsin, studying art & women and gender studies. Another student and I started our own feminist group to raise awareness on special issues such as sexual assault. Together we accomplished three major events - the Clothesline Project, the Teal Ribbon Initiative, and a very successful Take Back the Night event. It was during all of this that I really discovered my passion for raising awareness and bringing different communities together to empower, stand up, and fight for important issues happening in our society. I knew that I wanted to continue organizing and planning events, raising awareness, bringing the community together, and empowering everyone here in northern Nevada!
Elizabeth:
"I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. I came to Tahoe to be a ski instructor and ended up going back to school at Sierra Nevada University. Being in such a small town it can be difficult to find organizations that empower and uplift women, which was why we wanted to start one! As a woman in this community I want to help young women develop professionally, become more politically active, and give women a place to uplift one another!
